About Us
Violet was created by Jenell Coleman, MD, MPH a board-certified OB/GYN and the Division Director of Gynecologic Specialties at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and Saumya Sao, BA, a public health researcher and aspiring physician. With the hope of creating a reliable and accessible platform for young people to take control of their sexual and reproductive health, Violet was born.

The Violet Project has three main aims:
-
To make reliable, comprehensive, and easily understandable sexual andreproductive health education accessible to teens and young adults through a digital platform.
-
To provide young people in Baltimore City and beyond with sexual and reproductive health services (including condoms, menstrual hygiene products, and self-collect STI testing) free of charge, increasing access and privacy through an online ordering system, and to distribute these products to low-income youth in our clinics as well.
-
To engage young people in Baltimore City and beyond with the creation of the Violet Project; elevating their voices, empowering them to learn about their health, and encouraging their peers to do the same.

Join us on our journey to make sexual and reproductive healthcare equitable and accessible for all!
