How to:
Self-Enroll on Medicaid

Insurance: Accepted Insurance

Medicaid vs. Maryland Children's Program: What is right for me?

Medicaid

Who this is for:

  • 18+ Adults who make up to $1482/month (if more people live with you, check out the chart below!)

  • Individuals 18-26 that have aged out of foster care, regardless of income

  • Pregnant Individuals who live alone

  • Pregnant Individuals that live with family members (check out the chart below for eligibility criteria based on family size)

Apply if: You are an 18+ adult with an income less than $1482 a month or a pregnant individual with any income

Maryland Children's Health Program

Who this is for:

  • 19 and under individuals whose caregivers make up to $2266/month

  • Children of caregivers that make up to $3458/month qualify for MCHP Premium

  • Virtually ALL Children without insurance qualify.

Apply if: You are under 19 years of age and live with caregivers (whoever takes care of you most of the time) that make below a certain amount of money. It is $4661/month for families of 4 (see household/income chart for more info)

Your age can help you narrow between Medicaid and MCHP.

Over 19 years old: Medicaid

Between 18 and 19 years old: The choice is yours, but your income can help you decide (see step 2).

Under 18 years old: Maryland Children's Health Program (MCHP) or MCHP Premium

Use the chart below to help you determine your eligibility.

How to read this table:

Column 1 - Household Size: This is how many people live in your house. If you live alone, your household size is 1.

Column 2 - Adult Income Maximum: This is the amount of money your household can make UP TO in a month and still qualify for Medicaid if you are above 18.

Column 3 - Children Income Maximum: This is the amount of money your household can make UP TO in a month and still qualify for Maryland Children's Health Program.

Column 4 - Children Income Maximum: This is the amount of money your household can make UP TO in a month and still qualify for Maryland Children's Health Program Premium.

Column 5 - Pregnant Women Maximum: This is the amount of money a pregnant individual can make UP TO in a month and qualify for Medicaid.

If you are under the number in the table of your specific column, you may be eligible.
